Basketball Staff - Coaches / Staff
I am currently in my 13th year of teaching History and coaching girl's basketball in Idaho. I am a native of Pennsylvania where I played for perennial powerhouse Altoona Area High School and then received a basketball and track & field scholarship at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. I graduated in May of 1998 with a BSE in secondary education/social studies.
In August of 1998, I moved to Idaho and began teaching and coaching Girl's Varsity Basketball and boys/girls Track & Field at Garden Valley High School. In 2001, I got married to now my wonderful husband, Chase, and then began at Emmett High School where I served as JV coach from 2001-2003--then was promoted to the Head Girl's Varsity Basketball coach in the spring of 2003 and named Coach of the Year in the 2004-2005 season. I continued to coach in Emmett until the spring of 2008 where upon I decided to take the Head Girl's Varsity Basketball position at Rocky Mountain High School.
2004 was a busy year for me, in that year I had the privilege to work summer basketball camps at the University of Tennessee under the basketball icon - Pat Summitt - where I learned a plethora of valuable information. In that same month, I also worked summer camp at the University of Connecticut. In November, my first daughter Madison was born.
In February of 2007, my second daughter Brooke was born. In May, of that same year, I achieved my Master's degree in Educational Administration through the University of Idaho. Recently, I just gave birth to my third daughter Payton in September of 2010.
I am truly excited to begin a tradition here at Rocky Mountain High School. I extremely passionate about the game of basketball and hope to spread that passion to our players as well as the idea to always be your best - in play and character.
"Sports do not build character; they reveal it" - John Wooden
My athletic career started early. Growing up in the middle of three brothers was hard work. They always needed a 4th person to play any game, so, through the bruises, the blood, the grass stains, and the tears, I fell in love with sports. I participated in varsity volleyball, basketball, and track at Oakley High School in Oakley, Idaho. After high school, I played for the College of Southern Idaho's women's basketball team. I continued my education at Boise State University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education.
In 1994, I had the opportunity to coach my sister and the varsity girls' basketball team in Oakley, where the team finished 2nd place in the 1A state tournament. After a season in Oakley, I returned to BSU and got the JV coaching job at Horseshoe Bend High School in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho. I coached 4 years at the JV level and 5 years at the varsity level. In 2003, the team finished 2nd place in the 1A state tournament. While coaching at Horseshoe Bend, I had the privilege to meet and coach against a teacher from Pennsylvania, Coach Hutchinson. Our teams competed against each other quite a few times over those years.
In 2008, I asked Coach Hutchinson if she wanted some help starting the ladies basketball program at Rocky Mountain High School. It has been 3 great years!
For the past 16 years, I have worked for Lawn Co. as the lawn maintenance manager. I am blessed to work at a company that allows me to coach in the winter.

I was born in Janesville, Wisconsin but raised in Idaho most of my life. I played high school basketball for the Meridian Warriors right here in Meridian, Idaho. I also played baseball and football but basketball was always my favorite. My senior year in high school (yes it was a long time ago) I was named MVP and Most Inspirational Player in basketball along with receiving recognition for Outstanding Performance and Dedication, and was named Athlete of the Year. I went on to play two years of basketball and one year of baseball in college.
Since 1998, I have coached high school football, baseball, and basketball – the last 11 years have been in basketball, both in the boys and girls programs. In 2004, I switched over from the boys basketball program to the girls when I took over as the head J.V. girls basketball coach at Kuna High School in Kuna, Idaho. In 2011, I welcomed the change in high school venues from Kuna High to Rocky Mountain High and look forward to working with the coaches, staff, and student athletes.
I work for the Caldwell School District as its Grounds Maintenance Director. I am married to a wonderful lady, Lili Widder, and have one son, Allen, and two step-sons, Nico and Eric.
“The key to coaching is not what you do but the way you do it. The intangibles, the motivational parts of the game are the most important facets of it.” - Rick Pitino
I started playing basketball when I was very young. I played and graduated from Minico High School, Rupert, Idaho. I have been in the Army National Guard for the last 22 years in which the last 14 years have been a part of the Recruiting Command as a Recruiting and Retention Non-Commissioned Officer. During these years I have coached summer camps at the College of Southern Idaho, played in a North West Pro-Am traveling Basketball League, was the girl's Junior Varsity Head Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Burley High School, Burley, Idaho. The last 5 years I have been an Official for the 3rd District Basketball Association as well as coaching with the girl's AAU basketball program. Besides being in the National Guard and coaching, I love the outdoors. I am married and have 3 children.
I believe that high school athletics provide a great learning experience for young men and women. Not only do they learn to play a great game, they gain life experience and learn valuable lessons from the trials and tribulations that they will experience while playing and being part of a team. Being a coach allows me the opportunity to share my passion and knowledge of this crazy game that I have been in love with for a very long time.
