2006 Home Games
Pre-seasons Vs Mackay - 8th April
Vs Gladstone - 19th April
Pre-seasons are designed to give players a preparation plus give fans an insight into the teams being assembled. Recent game against Bundaberg was to be a low key affair with little publicity involved. However fans came out in force to see the action. Attendance is expected to further build for 2 other pre-season games planned.
Sponsors are given first option on their boxes for these nights which will be free if not-serviced. If drinks are required then the offer is at the heavily discounted rate of $100/ 6 seater and $65/ 4 seater.
Please advise if you require your box and if you wish it serviced.
Clubroom Refurbishment
The clubroom is in final stages of refurbishment with a new 10 metre bar installed. Carpet has now been laid with all the finishing touches left to complete before the season proper in early May.
Rockets and Cyclones “Fostered”
Rockhampton Basketball has accepted a substantial offer from Foster Australia to be aligned with their products. Quality products such as Victoria Bitter and Carlton Mid will now be available. Bottles of excellent wines will now be obtainable for corporate boxes.
STADIUM NIGHTCLUB ROCKETS
The mission again for 2006 Rockets is to improve on last years excellent results. Coach Neal Tweedy has not yet totally finalised his roster but is looking extremely promising. The major signing has been Cameron Tragardh the league MVP for the past 2 seasons. Hopefully Cameron will be instrumental in winning a championship as he has done with all his past clubs. Cameron is keen to play in front of Rocky’s vocal crowd. American Charles Brown will play the point guard position. Charles is super quick so will delight fans with his athletic ability. The other import spot is currently being finalised.
Scott brothers, Paul, Greg & Glenn are looking very strong and fit, expecting to deliver their usual solid performances.
. Local heroes Darren Richardson and Tony Campbell are again very keen to play key roles in delivering Rockets success.
The standard of the men’s league continues to improve with virtually every team now containing NBL players.. The Rockets are again expected to be more than a competitive force, delivering the same level of excitement and entertainment as in previous years.
HOG’S BREATH CAFÉ CYCLONES
The Hog’s Breath Café Cyclones will again come under the direction of Kevin Bolck who is quite excited with the roster being assembled.
Last year’s roster has been bolstered by the return of Biancia Abbott who was MVP of the Southern Cross league. She will be joined .student Zoey Grant a recent state U20 representative.
The biggest signing in the league to date has been Sue Moran for the Cyclones. Sue is the highest credentialed player to ever suit up in this league having been on the WNBA New York roster. The Irish national last year dominated the New Zealand national league including amassing 43 points in the grand final.
The Cyclones roster is expected to be rounded out by a WNBL player who the club is in final negotiations with.
Simone Grant, and the Fisher sisters Kristy & Rachael and a bunch of young local talent will fill the roster.
This year will see significant on-court success for the Cyclones.
We look forward again to plenty of support throughout the season for the women’s’ program.
STADIUM NIGHTCLUB JETS (Under 23’s)
This year again sees our development side competing against all the northern QABL centres, under Coach Ross Borg.
Numbers at training have been very strong with a great deal of enthusiasm. With a quantity of players on the Rockets roster also eligible for this division the team is expected to again acquit themselves well.
Players such as Craig Bosel, Glenn Scott, Peter Trenerry, Aaron Glazebrook, Tim Borg and Bryce Sheppard are expected to make significant contributions. There will also be opportunities for talented juniors such as Simon Weigh & Curtis Bolck.
So take the opportunity and come out early and support the Under 23’s and you will be treated to some fast actioned entertainment
